I’m Jackie Jarvis, your local Labor Member for the South West and WA's Minister for Agriculture and Food; Forestry; Small Business.
My husband Matt and I moved to Margaret River in 1996 and still call it home to this day.
It is here we raised our three daughters, Caitlin, Madison and Ashlee.
We own and operate our vineyard, Jarvis Estate, in the wine sub-region of Bramley.
Matt is the winemaker, our rescue dog AJ greets our visitors, and from time-to-time you may find me helping on the cellar door.
I began my career in the finance industry before forging a new path as an expert in workforce development for the Agricultural sector. In 2014 I was named WA’s Rural Woman of the Year and the national runner-up for my work in attracting resettled refugees to work in agriculture. Five years later, I was named the Rural Community Leader of the Year at the Australian Farmer of the Year Awards for my work championing for women in rural communities and advocating on their behalf.
Prior to being elected to the Legislative Council, I worked for the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development. I have also served as the CEO of the Rural, Regional, Remote Woman’s Network of WA Inc, as a principal policy advisor to then Minister for Regional Development; Agriculture and Food Alannah MacTiernan, and on the boards of the Forest Products Commission and South West Development Commission.
I love the South West and am passionate about being a strong voice for our region.
I'm proud to be part of Roger Cook's Labor team as we work to create local jobs, keep WA safe and strong, and deliver quality services and infrastructure for regional WA.
When not working, I like to support the Margaret River Hawks Footy Club, catch up with friends at the Cowaramup District Social Club, listen to audiobooks, and watch my daughters play hockey.
